Participants on the seven day, 510 mile Ride Across South Dakota bicycle tour will cope with temperatures near 100 degrees as they come through the central part of the state today (Tues.) on their way from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Devil’s Tower at Hewlett, Wyoming.
RASDak president and tour director Kasey Abbott says after a hot day of riding from DeSmet to Miller, everyone was happy to get inside the air conditioned high school gym.
Abbott says there are several indoor, air conditioned activities planned when the approximately 180 riders get to Pierre and Fort Pierre.
The public is invited to the social starting at 4pm and dinner starting at 5:30pm. Cost is a $10 donation to the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center.
Cronin asks motorists to be alert, slow down and pass with care when you encounter the bicyclists who will primarily be following US Highway 14 and SD Highway 34. Tomorrow riders will go from Fort Pierre to Union Center, SD.
