UPDATE: The intersection of Capitol Avenue and Highland Avenue in Pierre will NOT close today (Thurs.) for installation of new water main. But, water will be off in that intersection for a valve installation on Capitol Avenue. The full traffic closure of the Highland and Capitol intersection will occur on Monday, June 25.
Curb and gutter and street replacement on that section of Capitol Avenue will occur after the water main is finished. The remaining work depends heavily on weather, but city crews and the sub-contractors doing the concrete and asphalt work intend to reopen the area the week of July 16. Access to all business will remain open from one direction or another during construction.
