A 32-year-old man from Lower Brule faces DUI and drug charges after a traffic stop yesterday (Mon.) evening in Pierre.
The Pierre Police Department reports an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with no brake lights. Sidney Walters, the driver, was found to be impaired and was arrested for DUI 1st. Upon further investigation, Walters was found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, ingestion of a substance to become intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and distribution/manufacture of controlled drugs. Walters was also cited for not having a valid driver license and no insurance.
