Avera St. Mary’s in Pierre is holding an active shooter training exercise this (Wed. Nov. 14) afternoon.
Avera St. Mary’s director of quality, safety and risk management Marnie Burke says the exercise will start about 3pm.
Burke says the training exercise will take place at Avera Medical Group Pierre, the Helmsley Center and Avera St. Mary’s Hospital, but patient appointments and care will continue as normal.
Again, there will be an increase in law enforcement presence on the Avera St. Mary’s premises in Pierre this afternoon because they’re doing a training exercise. Patient appointments will go on as scheduled.
