UPDATE: The City of Pierre has lifted the snow alert. Parking may resume on emergency snow routes.
The City of Pierre has issued a Snow Alert, which means all vehicles must be removed from Emergency Snow Routes. Vehicles may not be parked on Emergency Snow Routes until the snow alert is lifted by the City. Vehicles parked on ESRs during the snow alert are subject to ticketing and towing at a cost of $85 each.
To accommodate snow removal, citizens are encouraged to use off-street parking on all city streets including non-ESRs.
Also, city snow ordinance requires property owners to keep sidewalks adjacent to their property free of ice and snow and prohibits property owners from depositing snow or ice on public streets and alleys after they’ve been plowed by the city.
