Governor Kristi Noem has ordered flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset today (April 20) in honor of the late State Representative Bob Glanzer of Huron. His funeral is today.
The 74-year-old Glanzer died last month (March 2020), nearly two weeks after testing positive for COVID-19.
He was in his second term in the Legislature, representing Beadle and Kingbury Counties. Glanzer was a retired agriculture loan officer and a past manager of the South Dakota State Fair.
He became the fourth person in South Dakota to die from the virus. Glanzer’s niece, 51-year-old Mari Hofer, was the third person in the state to die from the virus. She was a third grade teacher at James Valley Christian in Huron.
Governor Noem expressed her condolences saying Glanzer was a man of true integrity and someone she greatly respected. He epitomized what it means to be a true statesman and worked tirelessly for the people of Beadle and Kingsbury counties, as well as for the entire state.
