PIERRE – At the Hollister Field 2020 football home opener, the Pierre Governors received the battle that they expected, but held off West Central 24-14 to improve to 2-0.
Maguire Raske again excelled rushing, with 171 yards on 28 carries and three touchdowns, giving him 300 yards and seven touchdowns in the season’s first two games. Raske now has 38 rushing touchdowns in his career. Carston Miller also hit a 28-yard field goal for Pierre.
Raske and Regan Bollweg recorded sacks, while Josh Rowse led Governor tacklers with 13. Gunnar Gehring had nine. Preston Taylor recovered a fumble.

PIERRE – Struggles for Pierre Governor Soccer continued Friday at the Pierre Indian Learning Center Soccer Complex. The Governor girls lost 6-0 to Rapid City Stevens and fell to 0-5. Pierre boys lost 3-2 to Rapid City Stevens and are 1-4.
Both teams will host Rapid City Central Saturday at PILC, with the varsity girls playing at 9:00 AM and the varsity boys at 11:00 AM.

MITCHELL – Governor Girls Tennis won one dual and lost one on Friday. Pierre lost to Mitchell 6-3, but defeated Yankton 6-1.
