PIERRE – Ayvrie Kaiser of Governor Volleyball and Zach Letellier of Football are the Pierre Athletic Coaches Association-Avera Athletes Of The Week for September 6-12.
Kaiser leads Pierre Volleyball with 43 kills. In nominating Kaiser, Head Coach Kacy Kienholz wrote, “Ayvrie has been a strong force for our Governor Volleyball program on both offense and defense. She plays all away around as a primary passer and outside hitter. What is most impressive about Ayvrie is her energy on the court and effort she gives every play. Ayvrie brings a lot of emotion to the team and her hustle plays have been extraordinary. Ayvrie plays on both the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams and gives the same effort to both teams.”
Letellier set a school record with 229 yards receiving on six catches, including a touchdown, in the Governors’ 52-29 loss at Yankton. Head coach Steve Steele wrote of Letellier, “He has really persevered through some tough injuries the past 2 years but has continued to work hard and stay positive. It was has been very fulfilling to see him do what we know he’s capable of doing the past few years and knowing the adversity he has had to overcome to make it happen. We are very proud of Zach and excited that he was able to etch his name into the Governor Football record books and show our younger players and kids in our community that no matter what adversity you handle, you can overcome it through hard work, dedication and preparation to achieve great things.”
