PIERRE – Regan Bollweg will soon be a Jackrabbit.
Months ago, the Pierre Governors’ two-time All-State tight end said he would go to South Dakota State. Wednesday, the Jackrabbits officially announced that Bollweg is part of their new recruiting class.
In the last two seasons, Bollweg had 1,465 yards in receptions and a school-record 20 touchdowns in helping Pierre to its third and fourth consecutive 11AA championships. He also has the Governors’ career sack record with 20 and a half and the single-season record of 13 and a half in 2019.
Also, Bollweg was state runner-up in the 195-pound weight class in wrestling last season.
Bollweg is a National Honor Society member. He is planning to major in either pre-medicine or agricultural business at SDSU.
Among the other signees by South Dakota State is running back Josh Buri of Brookings, whom Pierre defeated for this past season’s 11AA championship. Buri rushed for 1,655 yards and 28 touchdowns for the Bobcats this season after moving from Stewartville, Minnesota, where he rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in his junior season.
