YANKTON – The Oahe Capital girls earned their second and third wins of the season Sunday, winning over the Yankton Gazelles 4-1 and 5-3 on the road.
Sara Bierne scored twice in a three-goal first period in the first game and assisted on a third-period goal by Alyssa Stahl. Olivia Swenson also scored for Oahe. Abagail Stewart-Fromm stopped 13 Yankton shots.
Swenson registered a hat trick in the second game for the Capitals (3-9-0-1). Brenna Ullman also scored as the Capitals built a 4-0 lead three and a half minutes into the second period. After Yankton cut the lead to 4-3, Bierne wrapped up the game for Oahe with an empty net goal with 1:13 remaining. Sophia Peschong made 13 saves.
Only two regular season games remain for the Capital girls, and they will both be at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre, February 27 and 28 against Sioux Center.
