HARRISBURG – Pierre Governor Baseball had an early 5-0 lead Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader, then held on to defeat Harrisburg 8-5 for a split. Harrisburg had won the first game 10-0.
In the second game, two errors and a wild pitch by Harrisburg helped the Governors to a four-run second inning to extend their lead to 5-0. The Tigers cut the lead to 5-4 before Pierre (6-2) scored three runs in the sixth. Jayden Wiebe had three hits and Andy Gordon drove in two runs for the Governors. Aaron Booth struck out six in four innings for the win. Maguire Raske pitched an inning and a third in relief and struck out four.
Tyson Kogel hit a three-run double to highlight a seven-run fifth inning for Harrisburg in the first game. Booth had two of Pierre’s four hits.
The Governors will play a doubleheader Tuesday at Huron.
