A South Dakotan is among the latest round of staff appointees for the Democratic staff of the United States House Agriculture Committee.
Chairman David Scott says Josh Tonsager will serve as the Subcommittee Staff Director for the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee. Prior to joining the Committee, Josh served as the Vice President of Policy and Communications for the National Association of Wheat Growers. Tonsager also served as a Legislative Assistant in the Office of Former Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota. He grew up on his family’s farm near Oldham.
Ross Hettervig will serve as the Communications Director. Hettervig started with the Committee in 2019 and most recently served as the Digital Director. Prior to joining the Committee, Hettervig worked on various political campaigns, focusing on digital and field strategy. He is a graduate of North Dakota State University.
Lyron Blum-Evitts will take on the role of Director of Outreach and Legislative Operations. Blum-Evitts joined the Committee in 2019 as Member Relations Coordinator. Previously, she served as the DCCC’s policy director and as a Legislative Director for a House office. A native Mainer, Blum-Evitts is a graduate of St. Lawrence University.
