We are almost in summer which is super exciting. I know I can’t wait to be outside for countless hours and get some sun. Most folks look forward to swimming over the summer. I’m a weirdo and don’t really care to swim. I can thank my mom for this one because she is the same way, but I absolutely hate getting my face wet and so does she. Don’t get me wrong, I can swim really well, but if I don’t have to, I don’t choose to!
According to CNBC, there’s going to be a major chlorine shortage this summer. They are saying there are multiple factors that are leading to this problem. Some have to do with the pandemic causing production to be at a halt. Other’s say more homes have pools because of the pandemic, which means there’s a higher demand for chlorine at homes. The prices of chlorine are on the rise and it is even predicted that this summer some pools could close from not having access to the chemical they need to kill the germs in the pool.
A Texas company says they are working on finding an alternative to the chemical, but they haven’t yet. They are saying right now the best alternative is to convert your pool to a saltwater pool, which could be an expensive upfront cost.
This is just a prediction for now, but it could become an issue later this year. Hopefully, a lot of pools don’t close because that would be sad to not have pools for two summers in a row.
