It’s so funny how some things are passed down from generation to generation even though they don’t apply anymore. BuzzFeed found eight wise phrases that aren’t quite true anymore. I’ll have them listed below with some reactions to them. Let me know what you think! Do you think these are still true or do you think we need to rethink them?
- “Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt me.” Words are nasty sometimes and leave a lasting impression on a person. I almost think words hurt more than injuries.
- “Flattery gets you nowhere.” Yeah, I can tell you for a fact this isn’t true. I’m not going to lie, flirting has gotten me a few things in life. I don’t agree with do ing all the time, but every once in a while it’s okay.
- “You’ll sleep like a baby.” Every baby I know sleeps for like an hour then screams a lot. I hope I don’t do that at night lol
- “There’s no such thing as a stupid question.” I don’t think I need to explain this one! LOL
- “Good things come to those who wait.” THIS IS NOT TRUE! If you want something, go get it. It won’t come to you unless you put your hat in the ring for it.
- “Cheaters never prosper.” If you ever went to high school, you know this one is true. Okay… maybe not. LOL IDK
- “Money doesn’t buy happiness.” Money may not buy happiness but it buys cows which makes me happy. What item or animal would make you happy?
- “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” This one is true, but not fun to go through!
Let me know what you think of these phrases and if your opinions match mine!
