The Walworth County Commission held their first regular meeting of the month on Thursday, June 3rd.
State’s Attorney James Hare requested that the commissioners consider a motion to allocate ten additional personnel work hours to the state’s attorney’s office for the lien debt collections, and this was approved.
The commissioners approved the second reading of Ordinance 2021-10 regarding the permitting process for medical and recreational marijuana.
A motion was approved to have Lewus Morgan take the Manager of Landfill Operations certification test, on the condition that Morgan stays employed with the county for at least one year or he is to refund the test fee to the county.
A first reading of an ordinance on covered loads at the landfill was tabled to the next meeting.
Due to the rules of recycling not being followed, the trailers behind Mobridge City Hall will be removed, and Commissioner Duane Mohr will look into selling the baler and getting quotes on the trailers.
The second reading of a burn ban ordinance was approved with a change in wording to allow for legal use of fireworks without notifying Mobridge dispatch when an open burn burn is not in effect. Commissioner Scott Schilling was the lone nay vote.
The commission passed a motion to sign an updated adult & juvenile jail housing contract with Roberts County – $90 for adults and $200 for juveniles.
Also approved was a first reading of an ordinance establishing a jail administrator. Commissioner Kevin Holgard explained his ordinance.
Also at the meeting, the board discussed the selection of an advisory board for the Master Transportation Plan and decided to appoint people to represent from each commissioner’s district.
Banking access was approved for new deputy auditor Jessica Bostelmann.
