I will openly admit this. I’m spoiled rotten. My parents are amazing and I have no idea what I would do without them. I’m so extremely grateful for everything they have ever done for me! Growing up we didn’t have set chores, but if mom or dad asked us to do something, it was expected that we did it… and we did with no grief at all. My brothers and I were super involved in a lot of hobbies, so we were hardly ever home. I played competitive soccer, football, track, basketball, cheerleading, softball, volleyball, karate, shot archery, shot trap, skeet, five stands, was in 4-H, and on our 4-H club’s board, I was a leadership representative for Colorado, I was in the National Honor Society, student government and ran our high school tv station. I would get up at 6 am unless I had morning practice… then it was like 4:30 am and wouldn’t get home until 10 or 11 at night. My parents felt I was learning responsibility and life lessons in those activities that I didn’t need to do stuff around the house. My parents took the same approach as this TikToker who is getting a lot of backlashes.
She doesn’t pay her kids for chooses, she pays them for their hobbies. She said her goal is to teach her kids to find something they love to do and turn it into a job. That way they learn they can make money doing what they love. My parents did the same thing and I think I turned out okay. If my body could have taken it, I would have been a professional athlete, but I have had too many surgeries for that. I love radio and hope I can make it a part of my life for as long as possible. Check out this video and let me know if you agree with her or not!
