PIERRE – Post 8 Legion Baseball climbed back above .500 Saturday with a sweep over Renner at Hyde Stadium, 2-1 and 11-1.
Post 8 (7-5) allowed the first game’s first run to Renner in the fourth inning, then rallied in the fifth. Jack Merkwan tied the game with an RBI groundout, then another ground out by Gary Nedved gave the Eights the lead. Bennett Dean pitched a complete-game five-hitter, striking out five and walking three.
Andy Gordon had three-for-three and drove in four runs in the second game for Post 8. Gordon hit two singles and a triple. Cade Hinkle and Jayden Wiebe drove in two runs each. Jett Zabel allowed just an unearned run and four hits for the win in five innings with three strikeouts.
Post 8 will host Aberdeen and Sturgis Tuesday at Hyde Stadium.
