Here are this weeks’ Feel Good Friday stories….
1. A U.S. Army vet named Buddy Laddin is paralyzed from the waist down. But he used a special exoskeleton device to help him stand and WALK on Sunday. For the Fourth, he helped raise the American flag outside a veteran’s hospital in New Orleans.
2. An entire family from Chicago all graduated this year. The mom is a teacher’s aide, who finally got her college degree 30 years after she started school. Her son graduated from Georgetown the same week . . . then her oldest daughter finished high school . . . and her youngest daughter was valedictorian of her elementary school.
3. Five kids in Iowa found out about a road near a lake that turtles like to cross in the summer. And because of traffic, not all the turtles make it across. So the kids . . . all boys between 8 and 10 years old . . . have been going there each day to make sure they get across safely. They’ve saved almost 200 turtles so far this year.
4. A seven-year-old with special needs wanted her town near Cleveland to add an inclusive playground. And she was sick of waiting for the city to fund it. So she set up a lemonade stand . . . got $1,000 in donations . . . and now it’s happening. They’re going to find more money in the budget, and it should open next March.
5. A father and son were out fishing off the coast of North Carolina this week when another boat almost HIT them. And as it was going by, they realized no one was at the wheel. So they thought maybe there was a medical emergency or something. They started following the boat . . . pulled up next to it . . . and the son JUMPED on board, but no one was there. It was a totally empty boat. So they figured someone fell off . . . started searching around in the open ocean . . . and FOUND the guy. They pulled him out of the water, and he thanked them for saving his life.
6. There’s a 75-year-old woman in Texas named Peggy Garrison who’s got pancreatic cancer. And she obsessed with flamingos. So her family got in touch with the San Antonio Zoo . . . and they surprised her by bringing a REAL ONE to her house. The zoo posted a video of the whole thing on their Facebook page.
7. About 700 people live on a small island off the coast of Maine. And the high school’s graduating class was only 13 students this year, who were SUPPOSED to go on a big senior trip. But they couldn’t because of the pandemic. So instead, they decided to take the $8,000 they raised for it, and give it all to charity.
