State prison inmate Garang Majok is back in custody.
Majok was placed on escape status July 13 when he failed to return at the appointed time to the Sioux Falls Community Work Center from his work release job.
Majok checked himself in to a Sioux Falls hospital on July 27. He was returned to the South Dakota State Penitentiary on July 28.
Failure to return following an assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
