The Walworth County Commissioners held a special meeting Tuesday (August 31st) morning to approve the second readings of ordinances for cannabis zoning districts and licensing. Commissioner Rick Cain said the county will save some money by not publishing these ordinances in full. He said they can publish notices of adoption twice instead of once, saving them time by reading just the headings, adopting each one, and then publishing them twice. Cain read the heading for Ordinance 2021-14 “Cannabis Zoning Districts:
The second reading was approved. Cain then read the heading for Ordinance 2021-15 for “Cannabis Licensing”. The commission passed another motion to approve the second reading of that ordinance.
Under old business, Commissioner Duane Mohr has been checking on rental of a compactor, but it would cost the county roughly $237,000 for one year with rental and cleaning. He plans to contact Brown County to see if they have an extra compactor available in the event that Walworth County’s breaks down.
The next budget meeting will be September 7th to make any changes and adopt the budget so the county stays within the timeline of codified law.
