UPDATE NOVEMBER 30, 2021:
The name of the 16-year-old male killed Friday afternoon (Nov. 26, 2021) in a one-vehicle crash 5.5 miles south of Florence has been released.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates Taryn Sumner was driving a 2006 Chevy Impala westbound on 165th Street at 3:18pm when it crossed the center line, went into the south ditch and rolled. Sumner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
