HURON – Watertown remained unbeaten in boys wrestling duals this season by holding off the Pierre Governors 35-21 Thursday at Huron Arena. The Governors then defeated Huron 75-6.
The dual against Watertown nearly went Pierre’s way. 132-pounder Tristan Spencer lost in sudden victory-1. At 138, Blake Judson lost a one-point decision. 195-pounder Gavin Stotts lost in an ultimate tie breaker and heavyweight Josh Rydberg lost in a tie breaker. Chase Carda recorded a pin for the Governors at 145 pounds.
Against Huron, Pierre (10-3) had pins by Alex Oedekoven, Lincoln Schoenhard, Nate Williams, Judson, Chase Carda, Deegan Houska, Jayden Wiebe, Chance Carda and Rydberg.
The Governor boys will next wrestle Saturday at the Yankton Invitational.
