Rod Stewart decided to take matters into his own hands after a local road in need of repair had been ignored for too long. It got personal the moment he realized he could no longer drive his Ferrari through.
He posted a video of himself doing actual road work. He said, quote, “This is the road near where I live in Harlow, and it’s been like this for ages. The other day there was an ambulance with a burst tire . . .
“My Ferrari can’t go through here at all. So me and the boys thought we’d come and do it ourselves. So this is what we’re doing, filling in the holes, while millions and millions of pounds have been spent on the [local highway] M11.”
I guess this is what England has come to. A 77-year-old rockstar must repair his own local street because no one else is bothering to do it.
Even though he got some online support, local highway officials weren’t impressed.
One of them said, quote, “While we appreciate Sir Rod’s commitment and community spirit, we discourage anyone from carrying out work on the roads themselves.
“Without proper traffic management and other specific safety measures, residents are putting themselves and others at risk.”
