BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man imprisoned for fatally shooting his parents, brother and sister in 1992 continues his quest to have his life sentence reduced. Michael Neugebauer was 15 when he killed the four family members at their home east of Bismarck. He was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the murders. Neugebauer filed a motion for a sentence reduction hearing in 2020, which was denied. He appealed to the state Supreme Court, which agreed a hearing should take place. On Tuesday (March 22, 2022), Neugebauer testified he endured years of abuse at home before the fatal shootings. There was no immediate ruling on the defense motion.
