Here are a few Feel Good Friday stories making the rounds . . .
1. A woman in northern California got stranded in the mountains for six days during a heavy snowstorm this month. But she survived by eating snow . . . and a six-pack of yogurt she happened to have in her car.
2. Meanwhile in southern California, some cops have been handing out $100 bills at grocery stores just to help people out. They were able to do it after a Secret Santa donated $20,000 last year to help them do random acts of kindness.
3. A kid named Elliott Tanner is about to graduate college at 13 years old. He enrolled at the University of Minnesota when he was nine, and majored in physics. He’s already been accepted into their PhD program.
4. And also in Minnesota: A three-legged dog named Gus . . . who’s been battling cancer . . . is now being called a hero after saving a baby otter from an icy river. His owners saw him jump in and didn’t know why. Then he swam way out . . . came back to shore with the otter in his mouth . . . and dropped it at their feet. He and the otter are both doing great.
5. A retired cop in Maryland is having pretty good April so far. 64-year-old John Boyd went on a nice relaxing vacation this month. Then he came home, checked a lottery ticket he’d bought right before he left . . . and found out he won $50,000.
6. Rhode Island’s last surviving Tuskegee Airman turns 100 years old next month and just wants birthday cards. His name is Victor Butler. He says he’ll read every single one, no matter how many he gets. (You can send cards to Victor W. Butler, C/O Gary Butler, P.O. Box. 3523, Cranston, RI 02910)
7. A 26-year-old woman in North Carolina hit the lottery for $250,000, and says she’s using the money to help her dad open his own tire shop.
8. A construction crew in Ecuador used a front-end loader to save a dog trapped in floodwaters this month, and the whole thing is on video. One of them sat in the bucket while they lowered it into a canal, and managed to grab the dog as it went by.
9. A woman in Massachusetts was waiting outside for a pizza recently, when she passed out and hit her head really bad. But luckily, her DoorDash driver showed up and saved her life. 26-year-old Sophia Furtado studied to be a paramedic for a while. So she knew what to do . . . called 911 . . . and told the woman’s husband to grab towels to stop the bleeding. The woman ended up in the hospital for three weeks with a traumatic brain injury, and needed a bunch of staples in her head. But she’s alive and doing great now.
