While blowing out a cake full of candles was the norm before the pandemic started, most of us say that tradition should be gone forever. When celebrating birthdays, blowing out a cake full of candles and singing Happy Birthday was a time-honored tradition. Then came COVID. In a survey, 74 percent of adults said if someone’s blowing out candles on a cake these days, they won’t be accepting a slice of the treat. A few years back researchers (at Clemson) found that blowing out candles meant fifteen times more bacteria was present.
