Here are some Feel Good Friday stories
1. A 19-year-old near Boston named Savennah Mendes-Rodrigues was at home studying on Monday when she heard yelling outside. It turned out a two-year-old had just been pulled from a pool, and he wasn’t breathing. But luckily, Savennah is CPR certified. So she did chest compressions until paramedics got there. The kid made it, and he’s doing fine.
2. A high school baseball player in Missouri collapsed at practice two weeks ago and didn’t have a pulse. But his coaches knew CPR and saved him. His doctors are still trying to figure out what happened, but he returned to school this week.
3. Two long-lost siblings in Texas reunited after passing each other in the halls of a hospital for years. Christina Sadberry’s 4-year-old son was getting treatment at a children’s hospital in Fort Worth. Meanwhile, a guy named Raymond Turner runs a studio there, where sick kids get to sing and record music. Earlier this year, Raymond’s wife got him a DNA test. And it showed that Christina . . . who was adopted as a kid . . . happened to be his sister. The best part is, right around the same time, her son also got a clean bill of health.
4. A toddler in Georgia was playing with his mom outside, chased after some bubbles, and found a MISSING WOMAN in the woods next to their house. She’s 82 with Alzheimer’s, and she’d been missing for four days. So the kid probably saved her life.
5. A couple got married on an island near Boston on Saturday, but it almost didn’t happen. The bride was already at the venue, but the groom and groomsmen were waiting for the last ferry across when it broke down. So a cop helped them out. An officer with the Boston Harbor Patrol used his boat to take them all across. It turned out the DJ, florist, and wedding photographer all needed a ride too, so they hopped on as well.
6. Teens in Chicago used donated cereal boxes to set a world record and pay tribute to Ukraine. Kellogg’s donated 5,000 cereal boxes . . . yellow Corn Pops and blue Rice Krispie boxes. They laid them out to create the Ukrainian flag.
7. A family of four was rescued after getting lost for 48 hours in the Australian outback with no cell service. They got lost . . . and then stuck . . . because Google Maps told them to turn down a dirt road, and they didn’t question it.
8. An 87-year-old Florida woman’s chihuahua named Goofuss went missing in South Carolina last month when he ran off into the woods after a car crash. No one could find him, so his owner eventually had to give up and go back to Florida. But then someone who’d seen a Facebook post about it got in touch more than two weeks later after Goffuss showed up at their friend’s house. Someone drove him hundreds of miles to Florida the next day, and he’s back home now.
9. A seven-year-old red panda was safely captured two days after he escaped from the Adelaide Zoo in Australia. Ravi the red panda was born at the zoo. He was found hanging out in a fig tree at the nearby Adelaide Botanic Garden. The zookeepers used a tranquilizer dart to recapture him. He’s fine but they’re still trying to figure out how he got out of his enclosure.
10. A little kid went viral this week when a video showed him facepalming after he dropped his hot dog at a White Sox game. So now a joint in Chicago called The Wiener’s Circle is throwing him a party with unlimited hot dogs for him and his friends.
11. NASA just announced they’re sending the first Native American woman to space next month. Her name is Nicole Mann. She’ll head to the Space Station on September 29th.
