The new non-profit Mobridge Community Development Corporation was introduced to the Mobridge City Council at a special meeting on Wednesday, September 28th. Haden Merkel talked about the group’s mission.
Merkel told the Council that a meeting will be held to appoint board members once the organization receives 501 (c) (3) status, most likely by mid-October. One of the projects the Mobridge CDC is working on is a grant application for new playground equipment for the Mobridge east side play park. The grant would provide $250,000 toward the project and the City’s match would be $12,000. Council approved the grant application.
Also at Wednesday night’s special meeting, the Council approved the second reading of the 2023 Budget Ordinance #1007. Mobridge City Finance Officer Heather Beck talked about some of the changes that were made and said everything looks good for the coming year.
At the close of the meeting a drawing was held for the recent pool shade project raffle. Mayor Gene Cox drew the name, and the winner was Josh Stoick of Mobridge.
