NEW YORK (AP) — A 75-year-old New York City man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 1976 killing of a World War I veteran. Martin Motta pleaded guilty on Tuesday (Oct. 18, 2022) in the death of 81-year-old George Seitz. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz says the guilty plea represented the first successful use of genetic genealogy by any of the city’s prosecutors. Seitz was last seen leaving his home to get a haircut. His dismembered remains were found in 2019 thanks to a tipster. Authorities say Motta robbed Seitz in the barbershop where Motta worked and then stabbed him to death. Motta faces 20 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.
