FULL STORY: Over the weekend Henry Cavill announced he’s leaving “The Witcher” after three seasons. He didn’t give a reason why, but maybe it’s due to a scheduling conflict since he’s returning to the DC Universe as Superman.
His character Geralt of Rivia will be played by Liam Hemsworth for Season 4.
In an Instagram post, Henry said, quote, “As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.
“Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
Liam also made a post. He said, quote, “As a fan, I’m over the moon about the opportunity. I’m honored that [Henry’s] handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure . . .
“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into ‘The Witcher’ world.”
But it’ll be a while until we see Liam as Geralt. Season 3 doesn’t come out until summer of 2023, and there’s no word when to expect Season 4.
To hold you over until then, there’s also a prequel series called “The Witch: Blood Origin” coming out on Christmas Day on Netflix.
