PIERRE – Pierre Governor standout wide receiver Jack Merkwan hasn’t made his college choice yet, but he will be part of an event that may gain him a lot of notice.
Merkwan was chosen from a pool of over 6,700 players to participate in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, a series of three games showcasing top high school talent from across the nation.
Merkwan will be in the first of the three games on Monday, December 12 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
Merkwan finished his Pierre career with a school-record 28 touchdowns receiving and set another school record Saturday with 234 yards receiving in the Governors’ 35-20 win over Tea Area that gave Pierre its sixth consecutive 11AA championship. That yardage is also a championship game record for any classification in South Dakota.
