SIOUX FALLS – Without two regular starters and playing against the second-ranked team in the state, was there no chance for Pierre Governor Girls Basketball?
On the contrary, there was no problem.
Pierre stunned O’Gorman 57-46 Friday at Bishop O’Gorman High School, despite playing without the injured Lennix DuPris and Ayvrie Kaiser.
Remington Price hit six three-pointers and led the Governors (10-2) with 20 points. Sydney Tedrow hit four three-pointers and scored 15. Reese Terwilliger and Ryann Berry each scored 11.
Pierre trailed O’Gorman (8-3) early 6-0, but then took the lead in the first quarter and never relinquished it, holding the defending AA champion Knights to less than 40 percent shooting. Mahli Abdouch and Lucy Moore each scored 14 for O’Gorman.
Price now has 173 career three-pointers, only two behind the program record held by Emily Mikkelsen.
The win was Pierre’s first over O’Gorman since 2014 and the first win ever for the Governor girls on O’Gorman’s home floor in six tries.
