PIERRE – When Huron kept pushing, the Governor boys pushed back and eventually gained a needed win.
Jackson Edman scored 21 with 11 rebounds Tuesday as Pierre held off Huron 68-59 at the Riggs High Gym.
After Pierre scored the first 11 points of the game and led by as many as 13 in the first half, Huron cut the lead to two before the Governors (9-6) led by six at halftime.
Helped by Edman, Pierre scored the first 17 points of the second half to take a 51-28 lead before the Tigers sliced the deficit to seven points. Then. the Governors held on.
Edman scored 15 of his points in the second half. Lincoln Kienholz poured in 14 points, with Ben Heisler tallying 12 and Jacob Mayer scoring 11.
