BISMARCK, ND – For one half, the Pierre Governor girls slowed down the Bismarck Demons Friday. Then, the Demons stormed their way to a second-half rally to retain the Governors’ Cup.
Bismarck defeated Pierre 54-36 Friday at Richard Karlgaard Gym to end the Governors’ five-game winning streak.
Jersey Berg hit five three-pointers and paced Bismarck (14-4) with 17 points. Paige Breuer and Payton Neumiller each scored 13 points.
Reese Terwilliger scored 12 points with six rebounds for Pierre (13-3), whose five-game winning streak ended. Lennix DuPris had eight points and Remington Price tallied seven.
Pierre led 22-18 late in the first half before Bismarck scored the next 13 points, including the first 10 of the second half. After the Governors cut the lead to five, the Demons then had a 12-2 run to take control of the game.
Pierre was held to 32 percent shooting, including only 22 percent in the second half, and committed 21 turnovers.
