Three Pierre Governor coaches were named as Region 3 Coaches of the Year by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association.
Governor boys head coach Brianna Kusler was named as the region’s boys head coach of the year and assistant Brevin Kaiser was named as the region’s boys assistant coach of the year. Pierre made the AA state tournament for the first time in six seasons and finished fifth, ending with a record of 16-8.
Governor girls assistant coach Terry Becker was named as the Region 3 girls assistant coach of the year. Becker, the former Governor boys head coach, helped lead the Pierre girls to their first appearance in a AA state championship game since 2008 and a 20-4 record.
