A U.S. District Court judge has decided the punishment for a 29 year old man from Mission convicted of Assault by Strangulation and Suffocation.
Alexander Brave was sentenced to two years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The conviction stems from conduct that occurred in October of 2021 in Todd County, wherein Brave assaulted his intimate partner by strangling and suffocating her.
This case was investigated by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuted the case.
Brave was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
