HIGHLIGHTS: Target parking lots are about to get more insane. They’ll now allow people to pick-up Starbucks coffee through that “Drive Up” service. They’ve already tested it in several locations, and it’ll be everywhere by October.
FULL STORY: If you asked people for their least favorite place on Earth, many would say it’s the DMV . . . or maybe Russia. But they might not even realize that “Target parking lots” is an option.
Target parking lots are ALWAYS insane, no matter what location you’re at. And they got even crazier when Target rolled out its “Drive Up” same-day order pickup service.
And now, Target will now allow people to pick-up Starbucks coffee through that service, too. They’ve already tested it in several locations, and it’ll be available at all locations with an in-store Starbucks by October. That’s MOST of them.
A rep says, “Our guests have long told us ‘Drive Up’ is a game-changer, adding convenience to their daily life, especially when they’re short on time . . . [now] Starbucks will bring even more ease and joy to every Target run.” (???)
The one saving grace is that a Starbucks pick-up at Target can’t be as spontaneous as an actual Starbucks drive-thru. (Which also doesn’t usually conjure up feelings of “ease and joy.”)
Here’s how it works:
You order whatever Target stuff you want, and select the Drive Up option. You get notified when your items are available, and then a prompt comes up asking if you want to add any drinks or food from Starbucks.
You pull up to the curbside pick-up space, and they bring your Target stuff AND your “freshly prepared” coffees out to you.
So it sounds like you can only ADD the Starbucks to a Target pick-up . . . and can’t just use it to pick up Starbucks. You also need to arrange everything through the Target app, and pay ahead of time.
