STURGIS – Pierre Governor Soccer had a split result Thursday against the Sturgis Scoopers at Woodle Field, with the girls staying unbeaten by winning 7-0. Pierre’s boys lost for the first time in three games, falling 3-1.
Girls – Pierre 7, Sturgis 0
Ryann Barry scored three times for the Governors (3-0) and Gracelyn Taylor scored twice.
The game remained scoreless until Kathryn Hostler scored in the 27th minute.
Pierre still only led 1-0 until Barry scored in the 53th minute. Taylor made the lead 3-0 in the 56th minute, then Barry scored again in the 58th. Natalie Flottmeyer scored just under a minute later. Taylor scored in the 63rd minute before Barry wrapped up the scoring in the 71st minute.
Pierre outshot Sturgis 19-8 and Governor goalkeeper Emlyn Swanson made five saves.
Boys – Sturgis 3, Pierre 1
Carson Wolter scored twice for the Scoopers to send Pierre (1-1-1) to their first loss.
Wolter broke a 1-1 tie in the 45th minute, then made a steal and scored again in the 72nd minute.
Jacoby LaRoche scored his third goal of the season in the 35th minute to even the game after Taylor Colunga had given Sturgis a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute.
