Stanley County High School’s Sporting Clays Team won the 1A Conference 1 title in the fall season of the Sporting Clays Division of the US High School Clay Target League.
The Buffaloes finished the five-week season with 1326 points, 49 ahead of Stockbridge Valley (Munnsville, NY).
SC’s Wyatt Mortenson had the best individual season average in the conference, averaging 46.4 hits on each 50 targets.
Sonja Johnson, the team’s coach, said, “We had a great mix of seasoned shooters and talented rookies this fall. We only held two practices before the competitions, so our young men stepped up. I hope the community recognizes how the team has represented Stanley County in a positive and competitive manner this fall. We are looking forward to the 2024 spring season.”
