The South Dakota No-Till Association will be hosting their annual soil health/no-till educational event in Mitchell Thursday (Feb. 8, 2024) at the Highland Conference Center (2000 Highland Way).
Organizer Ruth Beck says “this event has been very popular with area ag producers and industry. We look forward to hosting this event every year.”
Registration is at 9:30AM CST and the program runs from 10AM-3:15PM. The event includes lunch and a large trade show. There is no cost to attend but pre-registration is appreciated in order to have an accurate meal count. To pre-register people can either call 605-996-1564 ext. 3, text 605-530-5390 or email heidi.rients@usda.gov. Please include the name of each attendee. Pre-registration is requested on or before February 5, 2024. Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) credits will be available.
The first speaker of the day will be Dr. Shaina Westhoff from SDSU. Westhoff will be discussing salinity and sodicity in SD, where it is and how do we quantify it. The next presenter will be Dr. Jason Clark, Extension Soil Fertility Specialist from SDSU. Clark will be presenting on nutrient recommendations, and if tillage affects them. After lunch we will hear from Ryan Alley, Davison/Hanson County District Conservationist from NRCS. He will provide some program information.
The last speaker of the day is Dr. Eric Snodgrass, Nutrien Solutions. Snodgrass will be discussing high impact meteorology in Production Ag.
