At Wednesday’s (June 12th) meeting of the Mobridge City Council, the Street Department requested approval for the purchase of a hot box from the assigned equipment fund. Mobridge City Finance Officer Heather Beck said the purchase is not currently in the 2024 budget.
Council approved the purchase.
For the Water/Wastewater Department, Council approved the hiring of Josh Wolf as full-time wastewater maintenance, and Killian Warner as seasonal maintenance.
Adam Schmidt and Michael Anderson were both approved as new members of the Mobridge Fire Department.
Candace Lutz was approved as a part-time, as-needed dispatcher in the Mobridge Police Department. Council also approved wage increases for two dispatchers and two officers, and backpay for one officer.
Finance Officer Beck told the Council that the Hager Foundation would like to donate $40,000 to the City of Mobridge to put in new bleachers at the MYO field.
Council approved the purchase of the bleachers by the City. Beck said the Foundation will then write a check to the City for $40,000.
Also for the Parks Department the Council approved seasonal flower gardener Maria Laude.
Public hearings and approvals for temporary alcohol licenses were given to Mobridge Rodeo for the annual Sitting Bull Stampede Rodeo festivities at the rodeo grounds; the Arcade for a street dance July 6th; and the Chamber of Commerce for the ice fishing tournament in January 2025. Public hearings and approvals were also given on several brown bag permits, and one new alcohol license for the The Depot Restaurant on Airport Road.
Council approved a grant application for the airport master plan project. City Finance Officer Beck said the total cost for the project will be $366,000 with the City’s share at $24,000.
Council also approved the airport master plan project agreement with KLJ Engineering, and they wrapped up the meeting with the reports on financial, building permits, and code enforcement.
