South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks says the Lake Alvin Recreation Area Swim Beach and boat ramps will be closed beginning Monday, July 15 for beach area renovations and spillway replacement projects.
“The beach area parking lot and road leading into the beach parking lot and boat ramp parking lots will remain open to the public,” said Adam Kulesa, Park Planning Administrator. “GFP would ask individuals to please adhere to local signage and communications while the spillway is being replaced.”
The spillway and surrounding areas will remain closed until further notice.
“The anticipated completion date for the project is prior to spring runoff in 2025,” continued Kulesa. “We expect to have all areas of the park back open to the public in the spring of 2025.”
GFP would ask individuals for their patience and understanding during this time of construction. Individuals who have any questions may contact local GFP park staff or Adam Kulesa at Adam.Kulesa@state.sd.us or 605-773-526.
