College signings are becoming a weekly occasion at Riggs High Library for Pierre Governors who are continuing their athletic careers. This weeks installment was that of Charlee Williams-Smith, one of the top track stars in South Dakota who signed Monday to take her talents to Montana State.
The crowd was pushing out into the halls as Misty Larson stood aside Williams-Smith and reminded all attending what made Charlee so dominant in her craft. Larson shared that Williams-Smith was “outgoing, free-spirited and up for anything. However, when it is time to compete, there is no other like Charlee.” Larson went on, “She is a fierce competitor, and always practices that way. She has an incredible work-ethic and drive.”
Charlee was the State Champion in the Class AA Girls 400m Dash last May. She placed 3rd in the 100m and 4th in the 200m Dash. She also ran the second leg of the State AA Champion 4x200m Relay, teaming with Lennix Dupris, Emlyn Swanson and Kali Ringstmeyer to set a school record.
