HARRISBURG – For much of Saturday’s SDHSAA Girls AA Soccer quarterfinal match, the Pierre Governors were even with the top-seeded Harrisburg Tigers, but Hailee Christensen made sure that the Tigers moved on.
Christensen scored twice in an 11-minute span of the second half Saturday to give Harrisburg a 4-1 win over Pierre at Tiger Stadium and advance the Tigers to the semifinal round on Tuesday.
Harrisburg scored first on a 30-yard shot by Abigail Flanagan in the 13th minute.
In the 26th minute, Pierre (9-5-1) was given a penalty kick when Harrisburg was called for a handball in the box. Bria Sargent successfully converted it for her fifth goal this season.
The score remained 1-1 until Christensen scored in the 62nd minute to put Harrisburg into the lead, and Christensen then used a great through ball by Jaylee Hofer for a 3-1 Tiger lead in the 73rd minute. Three minutes later, Hofer added a fourth for Harrisburg.
