HURON – On a night when Remington Price made more Pierre girls basketball history, she also may have saved her team some troubles.
Price scored 24 Tuesday and became the fifth Governor girls player to have 1,000 points for her career as Pierre dropped Huron 49-33 at Huron Arena.
While the rest of the Pierre offense struggled in the first half, Price scored 18, including four three-pointers, almost solely leading the Governors (13-2) to a 22-17 halftime lead.
Then, Pierre went seven-of-11 from the floor in the third quarter, holding Huron to only six points and basically deciding the game. Price hit a three-pointer in the third quarter to eclipse the 1,000-point mark, joining Sydney Palmer, Steph Paluck, Karen Hasek and Emily Mikkelsen as Governor girls players to do so.
Reese Terwilliger finished with nine points and 10 rebounds, scoring seven of her nine points in the second half. Ryann Barry tallied seven points.
Kristen Janes led Huron (9-7) with 10 points.
