You can tell ’90s nostalgia is in full swing when Fruit Roll-Ups are in the news . . .
People have been posting different ways they eat them. Mainly, keeping them in the freezer so they’re crunchy, or wrapping them around a hunk of ice cream.
But here’s the dumb part: The company had to post its own video this week . . . telling people not to eat PLASTIC. (???)
If you haven’t had one in a while, each Roll-Up has a thin sheet of plastic stuck to it. If you want to eat one frozen, you have to unroll the candy . . . pull the plastic off . . . roll it back up again . . . and THEN freeze it.
But some TikToker posted a video this week, where it looked like she just opened one up and ate the whole thing . . . plastic and all.
People made fun of her. So she posted some follow-up videos claiming the ones she got just didn’t have plastic. Some people think she got a defective box. Others think she’s just lying to go viral and staged the whole thing.
In any case, it started a rumor that the plastic is EDIBLE. (???) So someone at Fruit Roll-Upsposted a video response.
She said “legal” wanted her to clarify you CANNOT eat the plastic. Then she took a bite of one, and you can clearly see there IS plastic on hers.
All the comments are about how silly it is they even had to tell people.

(To be fair, there are types of edible packing that exist now. So it’s not THAT crazy. Also, the claim that stickers on fruit are edible is technically true, but a bit of an exaggeration. One or two won’t kill you, but don’t make it a habit.)
