HIGHLIGHTS: 84% of Americans admit to being petty sometimes, or holding a grudge over something small. The situations when we’re most likely to act that way are in relationships . . . when we’re driving . . . and when we’re at work.
FULL STORY: Do you ever catch yourself being petty? Maybe you even dream of retaliating over a minor offense? If so, you’re in good company . . .
84% of Americans admit to being petty sometimes. People in Alabama were the most likely to admit it, 96%. People in Vermont were the least likely at just 67%.
So what type of things can bring that pettiness out of us? According to the poll, our SIGNIFICANT OTHER is #1.
22% said relationships are where they tend to be petty the most often. Road rage is next, followed by being petty at work, with friends, and on social media.
People were asked to name their pettiest moment. Here are a few of the best ones . . .
1. Someone admitted they “almost ended a friendship over $3.”
2. “Before moving out of my old apartment, I took all the batteries out of everything my jerk roommate owned.”
3. Someone confessed they’re that person who slows down to five miles an hour if you tailgate them.
4. A person stole someone’s parking spot, so they got revenge by sticking gum under their door handle.
(It’s interesting relationships are #1. We just had a story the other day about the pettiest reasons to dump someone.)
