South Dakota gets AAA credit rating from Fitch Ratings

Fitch Ratings has given the state of South Dakota a AAA credit rating. In doing so, Fitch Ratings noted South Dakota’s diverse economy, highlighting the state’s agriculture, manufacturing, trade, finance and tourism industries.

Governor Kristi Noem says South Dakota’s conservative fiscal policies work. She says they make our people more prosperous and our government more efficient – and this rating reaffirms that.

Noem says the state’s rating outlook remains stable. She says dedication to fiscal conservatism, strong money management, and continued low unemployment will ensure South Dakota’s long-term economic success.
