For the second straight month, unit sales of 100-plus horsepower ag tractors increased in the U.S. New data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers says March 2024 sales jumped 3.2 percent compared to last year, following February’s increase of 2.8 percent compared to 2023.
Total year-to-date sales of ag tractors and combines are below 2023’s pace. Tractors are down 13.3 percent while combines fell 20.4 percent.
“Seeing the continued growth in 100-plus horsepower tractor sales is a welcome sight as 2024 progresses, despite the softness in other tractor sizes,” says AEM Senior Vice President Curt Blades.
As we start the planting season, we’re optimistic about the future of the ag equipment market.” Unit sales of 100-plus horsepower tractors also grew in Canada during March, rising 2.7 percent compared to 2023. Four-wheel drive ag tractor unit sales jumped 27.3 percent compared to last year and are up 11 percent year-to-date compared to 2023.
