SIOUX FALLS – Two former Pierre Governors were named to the Summit League Academic Honor Roll, South Dakota women’s soccer player Joana Zanin and South Dakota State baseball player Landon Badger.

Zanin, who was the South Dakota Gatorade Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year (29 goals) in her senior season of 2017 and led Pierre the first of two straight state championships, had two assists last season as a sophomore for USD after scoring four goals in her freshman year.
Badger, who played Governors baseball & golf, Post 8 baseball and Oahe Capitals hockey, was all-state in baseball and hockey in his junior and senior seasons of high school. At SDSU, he had nine RBI during his pandemic-shortened senior season. Badger hit .270 with two homers and 22 RBI as a junior, .273 with 17 RBI as a sophomore, and drove in 13 runs in his freshman season.
